Meet the Breakfast Club

Early June, Marie discovered six tabby kittens in her backyard. She began feeding them and their mama in the morning when they visited her deck, hence the name Breakfast Club. With a lot of patience and time, she gained their trust.

But the environment was potentially dangerous.

Given the owls, bobcat and coyote often seen around the lake area where Marie lives, there was a deep concern for their safety. So, Marie contacted CATpassionate Village for help. We developed a plan for trapping and grabbing the kittens to bring them indoors and to prepare them for adoption, even though that is not our mission.

Once caught, the hard work began.

Over the course of a few days, all six kittens were picked up and brought indoors. That's when we began to prepare them for adoption, which is no small task, particularly when one kitten had a large umbilical cord hernia, some of them were shy and scared, and all of them developed diarrhea.

All of their medical needs were addressed.

As of late June, all of the kittens--Toast, Muffin, Biscuit, Bagel, Pancake and Waffle--have had their first vet visit, been de-wormed and tested for FeLV and FIV as well as received their first FVRCP (distemper) vaccine. They are estimated to be about eight weeks old and considered very healthy.

Toast had hernia surgery and was spayed at the same time. Unfortunately, she had to have the hernia surgery a second time because another portion of the hernia popped out within a couple of days of the first surgery. Now, a week since her second surgery, she is healing very well.

Now growing into very social, sweet, lovable kittens.

These kittens have adjusted quickly to indoor life and they're getting lots of attention. The five-year-old, seven-year-old and nine-year-old girls, that live next door to my home where they are being fostered, visit them daily and beg me to keep them. Each has claimed two kittens as their own.

Now, all of the kittens come running to me when I enter their space and all purr loudly. They are so easy to love.

Let me introduce you to these adorable brown and gray tabby kittens:

Toast and Muffin

Toast is a petite little light brown tabby girl that has blossomed into a kitten that loves attention. While she had a large umbilical cord hernia, she has had surgery and is completely recovered.

Muffin is a sweet girl that has a loud motor. She purrs and purrs. She loves to be a lap kitten. Cradling her like a baby is one of her favorite things.

Biscuit

Biscuit boy is also sweet and enjoys a good lap to sit on. He, too, likes to be treated like an infant in need of cuddling.

Bagel is pure sweetness. She doesn't seem to stress out about anything, not even a vet visit.

Pancake girl is a lovebug, too. Super chill. But don't challenge her on her share of a Churu. She is hilarious in how she'll slam her paw to the floor to make it known that she is not sharing.

Waffle is the big boy of the litter. He is completely relaxed and self-confident. He loves to lounge, especially in a human lap, all stretched out on his back. He also likes to hang over a human shoulder with his legs free falling.

All of these kittens will be spayed, neutered, vaccinated and ready for adoption after July 17. Ideally, we would like to see the kittens be adopted in pairs. Emotionally, it is better for the kittens

Waffle

All of these kittens are sugar and no spice. If we could keep all of them, we would. But, our hopes and prayers are that they find their forever, loving, caring homes this summer.
